Now that it’s officially spring, you probably have spring cleaning on your mind. But spring cleaning isn’t limited to your closets and baseboards.

Spring is also the perfect time to consider spring cleaning your jewelry!

We’ve shared our favorite tips and tricks for getting your jewelry sparkling clean for spring, so we’re shifting our focus to one piece of jewelry in particular – rings.

Most people have at least one, but have you ever stopped to think whether your ring(s) might be in need of repair? Or perhaps require a resizing?

If that’s you, then spring is the perfect time to take stock of your rings. Read on to learn the signs your ring needs to be resized or repaired.

1. Loose Stones or Damaged Prongs

Loose stones are a sure sign that your ring is in need of repair. Take a moment to check the stones in your rings to make sure they aren’t moving or rattling around – it’s much better to catch a loose stone before it falls out entirely, so you can make the repair before potentially losing the stone.

Also, watch out for damaged prongs, as this can contribute to loosened stones. We can help replace the damaged prongs before this becomes an issue.

2. Thin, Cracked, or Misshapen Bands

Even the thickest of bands can wear down over time, causing the metal to thin and crack. If you’re noticing a thin or cracked band, bring your ring into the shop today so we can assess the damage and make the necessary repairs.

Mishpaen bands can also be a sign that your ring needs repairing. Look out for bands that are no longer round – reshaping a band is typically an easy task, and can prevent the need for future repairs.

3. Dull or Discolored Metal

If your rings appear tarnished, dull, or discolored, it might be time for a good cleaning or even something a little more involved. As metal ages, it occasionally needs cosmetic updates. For example, white gold may need to be replated, or yellow gold may require polishing to remove scratches and tarnish.

Regardless of the metal type, we can help. Stop by the shop with your dull or tarnished rings, and our team can assess the best way to restore their original shine.

4. Uncomfortable Fit or Irritation

It’s very normal for your finger size to fluctuate over time, but if you’re finding that the fit of your ring is becoming uncomfortably tight or a certain spot is often irritated, it might be time to consider having your ring resized.

We can help resize your ring to fit your finger, and we can even resize an older heirloom ring if that’s what you need. Stop by the shop today, and our team can assist you with the correct resizing.
