By getting custom jewelry made, you get a one-of-a-kind, quality piece. It will make for an excellent gift and is sure to become a treasured keepsake.
That said, perhaps you have some reservations about custom-made jewelry and need more information before deciding. Here, you’ll find answers to the most common questions we get about them.
What Kinds Of Jewelry Are Possible?
Almost any kind of jewelry configuration can be made. You can have rings, earrings, necklaces, cufflinks, and so on made with your choice of metal, gemstone, and setting. Possible designs vary greatly in terms of intricacy. As long as you’re able to imagine it, we’re able to make it.
Can Jewelry Be Made With My Current Gemstones?
We can reset any gemstones you have into your new custom-made jewelry piece, allowing you to save some money and preserve some of its sentimental value. However, we don’t recommend using any significantly damaged gemstones. Our jewelers will advise you on this after examining your gemstone.
Can I Have A Piece Of Jewelry Copied?
We are able to copy universal styles and settings. If you own a piece that you’d like to have recreated, we can do so, but we might have to change some parts of the design as we wouldn’t want to copy another artist’s work.
The same goes for any designer jewelry you happen to find. We can’t copy their jewelry, but we can use them for inspiration and create a new design.
How Much Does Custom-Made Jewelry Cost?
The price of custom-made jewelry varies greatly. Factors that affect this include the type of metal used, type of gemstone, size of the gemstone, number of gemstones, and complexity of the design.
The best way to get a clear idea of the cost of the design you have in mind is to schedule a consultation with us to sketch some designs for you and give you a quote.
How Long Does It Take To Create Custom-Made Jewelry?
The time it takes to create your custom-made jewelry depends on the complexity of the design. It can take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. The 3D image rendering usually takes about a week, the wax mold can take 3 to 7 days, and the creation of the piece itself takes 2 to 3 weeks or potentially more.
What Is The Process Behind Custom-Made Jewelry Creation?
1. Consultation
We’ll ask you to communicate your ideas to one of our expert jewelry designers during the consultation. They’ll ask about the kind of aesthetic you’re looking for and assess the metals and gemstones you’d like to use for your piece.
They’ll then draw some basic sketches, and you can ask them to adjust designs to suit your preference. We will go on to the next step once we have your approval.
2. CAD Rendering
We create photo-realistic images based on the sketches you like with computer-aided design (CAD) software. If you’d like to get the gemstone from us, our designer will show you hand-selected gemstones for you to choose from.
3. Wax Model
Once you approve the CAD renders, we’ll then create a 3D wax model of the piece. This helps you visualize the final product, and you can still ask for additional changes. We’ll move on to creating the actual piece once you’re satisfied with the design.
4. Casting and Finishing
Our highly experienced jewelers will use the renders as a reference to handcraft your piece. The metal is polished and detailed, and the gemstone is set into place. After a careful inspection for quality and precision, we’ll present the finished custom jewelry piece to you.
